Cake baby, a feast2024

Big diner table

Fabric, wooden tables, chairs, laps, glasses, Apple tarte, Brauðterta, chocolate salami, pão de Quijo, toasted roles with salsa, ginjinha with a prosecco cocktail, cooky house, paper recipes, cake drawings.

The result of a cake workshop, this collaborative project explores the concept of cake as a symbol of celebration and gathering a centerpiece that can only be eaten when shared. Each participant contributed their idea of the ideal celebration or birthday cake, while others were responsible for setting up the table, designing the tablecloth, curating the playlist, and arranging the lighting. These photographs capture both the outcome of the banquet and the remnants of routine: mixed food scattered across the table. A memento mori is reenacted at the end of the gathering, symbolized by uneaten food, spilled drinks, and food constructions destroyed by hunger.
